Are we listening?
...
his sheep follow Him, because they know his voice" - John
10:4
Jesus here
uses the analogy of a shepherd with his sheep. In those days,
this was a readily understood comparison, as they lived closer
to the land than we do today
But sheep
look to the shepherd for guidance.. Generally they will follow
the one who goes up front. The shepherd leads them to pasture,
he gets them to lie down in green pasture, he restores their soul.
Read Psalm 23 in this light.
Jesus is the
shepherd who cares for every aspect of our lives. As such, I need
his guidance, I don't want to be headstrong and do my own thing.
This takes trust, a rare commodity these days, as there is so
much hurt in people's lives. But even there Jesus tells us to
"come to me all who are heavy-laden, and I will give you
rest" (Matt 11:28).
Take the time
to rest in the silence, and ask God for guidance with the issues
of the day. Ask God for your marching orders for this coming 24
hours. He will respond to everyone who comes to Him with a sincere
heart, and wanting to be obedient to His will.
Have a communicative
day!.
